Mark McGurl es profesor titular de la catedra Albert Guerard de Literatura en la Universidad de Stanford. Su anterior libro, The Program Era: Postwar Fiction and the Rise of Creative Writing, gano el Premio Truman Capote de Critica Literaria. Anteriormente trabajo para The New York Times y The New York Review of Books.
