She earned her degree in Modern Languages at the University of Madrid in 1957. She is currently a Spanish teacher at the University of Gieben as well as an author of books for children and young adults. Among the literary prizes she has received are the Amade Award and the CCEI Honor List. Most of her books have been selected as White Ravens by the International Youth Library of Munich. ZDF television in Germany has made two films for young people based on her stories.
